South African Class 40 Entry for Shetland Round Britain and Ireland Race

Phillippa Hutton-Squire and Nick Leggatt have entered the 2010 Shetland Round Britain and Ireland Race. After months of planning we have managed to obtain a Lombard designed Akilaria Class 40 to campaign in Europe over the summer.  One of the highlights of the season will be the Double-handed Shetland Round Britain and Ireland Race which has been held every 4 years since 1966.  One of the most important short handed races in the world, it has not seen a major South African entry for over 20 years.  With our entry we will be joining one of the largest fleets to compete in this event and will be racing against at least 7 other Class 40 yachts. To date there are a total of 57 entries for the race.

As our campaign develops we will be updating this website with details of other events that we plan to compete in.  There will be a mixture of double-handed and fully crewed events and for the latter it is our intention to race with an
all South African team.
